Bob Fertik of Democrats.com sent a mass email on Wednesday to subscribers which declares, "The neocon war criminals who took the U.S. into an illegal and disastrous war in Iraq are back - and demanding a Syria War."
The email laughably continues to discuss the costs of war (since when do Democrats endorse fiscal responsibility?), saying "the U.S. absolutely cannot afford war with Syria..." and laments that the Iraq war "helped cause the Great Recession of 2008." A war in Syria, the email reads, would take money "food stamps, education, health care, environmental protection, and Social Security" since the "...Republicans refuse to raise taxes."
The email distribution recipients must see how completely ridiculous and inaccurate these assertions are. Secretary of State John Kerry, as well as President Obama both made statements today pushing for military intervention in Syria.
Additionally, a letter pleading with President Obama to make a case to Congress was sent to the President this week. The letter was written by Rep. Scott Rigell (a Republican) and signed by with 140 members, including 21 Democrats as of Friday. It seems that opposition to an attack in Syria has bipartisan support.
Will the Democrats that know better denounce the inflammatory rhetoric of Bob Fertik of Democrats.com?
