Midge Slater of the Iowa Alliance for Retired Americans offered an opening prayer during a rally at the State Capitol on Wednesday. Her bizarre "prayer" thanked God for abortion doctors and "referred to the decision to have an abortion as 'a blessing.'"
It would almost be too insane to believe, if a video hadn't been posted by Kevin Hall for the Iowa Republican, who writes that Slater
"took the podium and spent five and a half minutes thanking God for abortion rights, abortion doctors and taxpayer funding for abortions."
The choice to actually say a prayer for Democrats is strange enough, considering that they are the party that "booed" God at the Democratic National Convention last year. It would be just as unlikely for the Democrats to say the Pledge of Allegiance before a meeting. Hall opined that the prayer may have been in response to a "prayer vigil being conducted by pro-life activists at the same time nearby."
"During the entire prayer, State Senator Jack Hatch and Rep. Tyler Olson, both of whom are running for governor, kept their heads bowed and eyes closed, joining in the group prayer."
It is reminiscent of when abortion activists yelled 'Hail Satan!' at pro-life advocates who were singing 'Amazing Grace' at the capitol in Austin, Texas during the debate on whether abortions should be allowed after 20 weeks. As an aside, President Obama's creepy advocacy group, "Organizing for Action," sent out a mass email saying that banning abortions after 20 weeks is "unconstitutional"
I really wish I was lying, but today in Texas the pro-choice crowd was chanting "Hail Satan" while the Christians sang Amazing Grace.— Mitchell Carter (@theycallMEFogel) July 3, 2013
