Jana Winter reported an unbelievable story about Colorado killer James Holmes; who killed 12 people and injured 58 others in a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado in July of 2012.

Winter's reporting revealed that Holmes "sent a package to a University of Colorado psychiatrist containing a notebook in which Holmes detailed his plans to carry out a mass murder." This is yet another example of how mental illness is a common theme in these mass shootings; where the perpetrators do not give a hoot about gun-control legislation. The mainstream media jumped all over it.
Winter's sources were anonymous.
As reported by Patrick Howley of the Daily Caller. Winter's "notes and sources" were subpoenaed by the court, after Holmes' attorneys claimed that Winter's sources may have "violated various gag orders." The court will decide this week whether Winter will be subpoenaed to testify. The journalist invoked the "Colorado Shield Law," but can be overridden by Judge William Sylvester, who is overseeing the trial. Her plight, detailed here, is not newsworthy in the mainstream media, apparently.
Journalists should be up in arms over the ramifications, as potential sources could be intimidated!
Winter could face jail time; which would be an outrage! But the mainstream media is silent. Why?
Winter works for Fox News.
Now that Winter is in trouble; the mainstream media has collectively turned their backs on her, with a "small, but growing" number of exceptions; who will surely prove to be on the right side of history. Perhaps they realize that this story has major implications for their personal livelihoods. Denver-based CNN journalist Jim Spellman tweeted:
In fact, the New York Times and many other mainstream outlets have not even mentioned the ordeal facing Jana Winter; which goes to show that in America, Journalism has died.
