President Obama is "not that good" at hoops, according to NBA Commissioner David Stern, a man who knows a thing or two about basketball.
"He's not that good. He's a lefty, he goes the same way every time. I'm sorry. And I'm a loyal Democrat, a passionate Democrat, and he's not as good as he thinks he is," Stern declared during an interview with Reuters news.
Anyone who knows sports, can see the president is a fairly middle-of-the-road player. There's nothing wrong with being mediocre at something, of course, but the media wanted to present the Democrat from Illinois as a superman in 2008. So, liberal journalists completely overstated his athletic prowess.
It's nothing new for male politicians to present a macho image to the public. Ronald Reagan was not an exceptional athlete, but he played a football star in Knute Rockne, All American, so everyone mistakenly thought he was a sportsman. And, he obviously did nothing to change their minds.
But, the hyperbole typically used to describe Obama's basketball skills has been quite nauseating. It's almost as absurd as Kim Jong-Il's claim that he scored 11-holes-in-one the first time he played golf.
What is your opinion about this topic? Does it matter whether President Obama is good at sports? Will David Stern face a fallout over these remarks?
