Paul Ryan is running as a flip-flopper's VP choice, so why not adopt some of those flip-flopping ways? Recently the Eddie Munster look-alike made comments that indicated a lack of worry with the decriminalization of marijuana. In fact, he expressed the sentiment that states should decriminalize/criminalize as they see fit without the feds looking over their shoulders. To no surprise he is now changing his opinion on the topic of cannabis.
Flip-floppy Ryan now agrees with Mitt Romney that marijuana should never be legalized. You know, these are the guys people vote for if you want "smaller government," but the one running for head honcho wants to federally keep a harmless substance criminalized—even if it is already decriminalized in some states.
The decriminalization really may not be a topic as important as the economy or assorted social issues, but very few people realize the kind of money that could be made with legalized marijuana. The GDP doesn't account for illegal sales, but marijuana legalization could add the money to the GDP. This source says that pot legalization could help America save as much as $13.7 billion each year.
One would figure a fiscal conservative like Paul Ryan claims to be would be for the decriminalization of marijuana knowing just how much money it would make. But instead of using common sense, he's going to flip-flop like the guy he's running with as the next leaders of the free world. It's a good thing President Barack Obama is ahead of these two knuckleheads in the polls!
