Her husband hasn't even officially won the nomination yet, but Ann Romney is sure acting like she and her husband have something to hide, all while declaring they're being open and transparent. Mrs. Romney interviewed with NBC's Natalie Morales, which is set to air later on Thursday evening. In the interview she told Morales that she and her husband will be releasing no more tax records.
This is a real sticking point with both parties, as Republicans and Democrats can agree on the rare issue that Mitt Romney needs to suck it up and release more than two years' worth of tax records. After all, his father, George, released more than a decade's worth of returns when he ran for president. Even president Obama has released 12 years' worth of tax records. Romney's adamant refusal, although not against any rules, leaves everyone on both sides guessing about what this guy is hiding.
His wife insists they have nothing to hide, but says it would be pointless to release any more because they would only give the Democrats 'more ammunition' to use against them. Well, that's circular logic for you. If they don't have anything to hide, then there is nothing the Democrats can turn against them, making her assertion completely baseless. In a sense, she just said they do have something to hide.
Not only that, but Romney may have broken the law when he went to Europe, thereby disqualifying himself from a presidential bid. Veterans Today military journal wrote that when Romney was in Europe and Israel, he held fund-raisers, and most of the people who donated to his campaign were not American citizens.
U.S. law strictly forbids non-U.S. citizens from contributing funds to the presidential campaign. This law is in place to keep foreign influences out of American politics, and Romney might have violated that law blatantly during his trip to Europe. No fund-raising records were kept, all donors were secret. Even if a non-U.S. citizen living in the United States contributes, it is a violation of law. Heck even Fox News is up in arms about this.
It could mean jail time for Romney if the names of these donors see the light of day. Perhaps that's why no news media were allowed in Poland? All of this makes it extremely likely that Ann Romney is lying through her teeth to Natalie Morales when she says she and her husband have nothing to hide. On the contrary, they have everything to hide.
