Democratic Activist Hits GOP Candidate’s Wife with Campaign Sign [Audio]

A Democratic activist made her way through a crowd to batter the wife of GOP Congressman Denny Rehberg last week as she was speaking to reporters along with her husband and daughter, Katie. The Jon Tester supporter is hopefully not representative of other Democrats in Montana, as she is clearly a bit unstable.

Congressman Denny Rehberg and Senator Jon Tester are candidates for the upcoming Senate race. After a debate on Tuesday, Jan Rehberg was confronted by the Tester supporter and environmental activist, who started hitting the Congressman's wife with a rolled up Tester campaign sign, as reported by the Examiner.

Although they are quite graciously not pressing charges, it had to be shocking for Mrs. Rehberg to be struck by this activist, who clearly is not a fan of civility. Mrs. Rehberg and her husband left shortly after the disturbance.

Bad behavior isn't limited to Montana, as Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett was slapped after conceding to Gov. Scott Walker in the Wisconsin recall election by a rabid fan.

It seems as though other Democrats were not in the mood to be polite in Montana, unfortunately. One of the protestors, Bozeman Democratic Activist Rachel Vaughn also slapped a reporter after the U.S. Senate debate in Big Sky (listen to the audio below, the assault happens around the 8:20 minute mark). Dustin Hurst, with Watchdog.org wrote, "though moderators asked the audience to stay quiet throughout, Vaughn openly and loudly called Rehberg a liar a few times during his comments. Then, when she couldn't stand it anymore, she stormed from the room, screaming that Rehberg is a 'corporate puppet.'" It is curious why some activists feel the need to disrupt events, clearly without consideration or respect for anyone else.

Additionally, Billy McWilliams, chair of the Gallatin County Democratic Party, calls the journalist "a dick" and "a bad guy," (around the 8:00 minute mark) presumably prompting the slap. Ms. Vaughn also called the reporter an "idiot." Mr. Hurst did absolutely nothing to provoke the attacks, and in fact, was extremely gracious, even after he was abused by these morons.
