Mike Smith, openly atheist, is running for Georgia House Dist. 69, and he intends on shaking things up a bit for the greater good. The democratic candidate wants to decriminalize marijuana, which polls have already indicated most Americans support.
Smith will probably have an uphill battle ahead of him seeing as though he's reaching for a seat in the Georgia House of Reps. It's not like it's the most liberal of states, nor is the deep south known for being accepting of freethinkers. His atheism may just put people off more than the fact that he wants to decriminalize marijuana.
To be honest, it would be nice if all politicians were intelligent enough to disregard religious mythology, which appears to inject itself into the laws of this country far too much. It's also a no-brainer that marijuana should be decriminalized. This prohibition, that's lasted far too many years, is just pointless and in no way reasonable.
So if you live in GA and you support common sense, get behind Mike Smith. Whether you're an atheist or not, the man appears to have a solid head upon his shoulders and wants to do good for his state and his country.

Please explain how it is so easy for you to put your personal dislike for a political party above your moral and ethical principles.
Scott it's more of trust thing. Democrats promise the world and they just defer their positions to public unions.
If I have made the correct deduction/assumption, then all I can say is WOW !!!
BTW : It's generally referred to as "Organized Labor" not public unions. Further, it's far less than accurate to generalize and/or to group all Democrats under the same banner of thought. We are an individualized party of thinkers not a party of organized followers.
