Samuel Wurzelbacher, also known as "Joe the Plumber," doesn't even know a compliment when he hears one. Biden called him "very smart" and he's taking offense?! Could be all the Fox News that Wurzelbacher watches that is "dumbing him down."
Joe Biden was speaking about how Romney's experience with Bain Capital does not automatically make him qualified to be president of the United States. Biden said working in private equity "no more qualifies you to be president than being a plumber. And, by the way, there are a lot of awful smart plumbers."
Doesn't that sound complimentary to plumbers? The only insult is the implied comparison of plumbers to Mitt Romney; the insult being to the hard working plumbers. Romney isn't qualified to carry the tools of a plumber let alone lead the free world.
Joe the Plumber said Biden's statements were "asinine." The only thing asinine is a guy made famous for crying about his small business tax rate (going from 36 to 39 percent) to 2008 presidential candidate Barack Obama in Ohio becoming a political pundit afterward. If asking a candidate a question makes you qualified to go around the country giving speeches, America needs to set the bar a wee bit higher.
