Vice President Joe Biden has been making the rounds lately. He was speaking in New Hampshire this week when he placed blame on the Tea Party for taking the House in 2010 and obstructing progress. He said, "Imagine where we'd be if the Tea Party hadn't taken control of the House of Representatives..."
Of course the Vice President would have preferred representatives that better reflect his and President Obama's beliefs, but unfortunately for them and fortunately for the United States, American citizens are the ones who do the electing. Biden explained that despite the "obstructionism", the president still demonstrated "important progress" during his term. Without those Tea Party citizens, who voted for people that better represent their beliefs, President Obama would have pushed through all kinds of additional "stimulus".
After calling them "honourable", Biden stated that the Tea Party is "a group set on obstructionism," in a post by the Washington Examiner. "They have one overwhelming goal: prevent President Obama from a second term, with no - apparently no care of the consequences to the economy," he said.

In Ohio this week, a bizarre anti-wealth, but pro-dreams of wealth speech, Biden said that he resented when "they talk about families like mine that I grew up in...I resent the fact that they think we're talking about...that we're envy...it's job envy, it's wealth envy, that we don't dream. My mother believed and my father believed that if I wanted to be the president of the United States that I could be...I could be vice president of the United States. My mother and father believed that if my brother or sister wanted to be a millionaire, they could be a millionaire! My mother and father dreams just as much as any rich guy dreams! They don't get us! They don't get who we are!"
So, the question begs to be asked: If Joe Biden's brother or sister became a millionaire, then wouldn't they become the "rich guy"? Who would now be the mysterious "they" who are always saying that they are "envy"? Vice President Joe Biden would start yelling about them!

Let's go through these: Spending: The debt ceiling has been raised 5 times since Obama has been president. His outrageous budget proposal was rejected unanimously by republicans and democrats. 414/0. I can go on about the wasteful spending which has always been in government, both parties need to stop, this should not be a partisan issue.

The oil extracted should have been paying for the short war expenses.
This went wrong: the war lasted far more than expected and Iraq is not extracting the expected quantity of oil.
As far as oil is concerned, we should realize that we have, presently, under drilling just 2 countries providing LIGHT oil: Iraq and Iran. All the other countries are mostly left with heavy oil.
Light oil is far cheaper to refine into gas than heavy oil and, on top of it, light oil is easy and cheap to extract while heavy one implies water injection to push it for recovery.
I suppose I don't need to describe the international situation with Iran which provides us the needed light oil and suffers from diplomatic pressures on our side.
The ME mess is an inherited situation, America has to solve taking into account Israel and the actual situation in Syria which is the sole Russian base on the Mediterranean and can threaten again Israel.Obama don't want to enter into a WWIII and want to save some military expenditures.
This is a resume of a quite complex situation where, if you move a game token, you take a huge risk. And Iran takes profit of it, selling its gas at a high price because the OPEC fixes the minimum prices which are mainly trade, for obvious reasons, since mid-2008 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Charles: Because there are 2 types of licenses: the first one provides you the right to"spend" money exploring a defined area. This is quite expensive and therefore the license is far cheaper but you still pay taxes to explore.
Then, supposing you found "something" you may be interested in exploiting it. You could find just water or to the contrary heavy or light oil. Each of them are different contracts and imply some different agreements ... and taxes. If it is gas (not oil) is still another contract as it implies special techniques which can "disrupt" much larger areas than the license is granted for.
Beside taxes, the governments (mainly ours) are as well interested in the techniques to be used for obvious reasons.
This is not restricted to the oil and gas industry: it covers the whole mining one. Gold is everywhere but what is being interesting is it concentration and the techniques for extraction. Sometimes thanks to the technical progress it is even cheaper to treat again earths left over after a first extraction.
I suppose, presently, the industry would be in search for "rare earths" which are needed for the computer industry and are presently just located in China.
In most countries when buying a land you can do what you like "on" it, which means digging up to some 25 yards, below a certain limit, you have to apply for a special permit. About 50 years ago, there were still countries where to buy a land and digging as much as you like was possible.

I thought, as per my reading,beg pardon if this is wrong, that you were questioning me as to "how come I still need to refer to GWB administration to describe the actual mess we are in".
If such was not the question, then I beg pardon. And I confirm that GWB was expected to be a good president for national (interior) affairs but for reasons I don't want to deal with, was surrounded by 3 main persons out of them 2 were, IMO, crooks.
Lowering taxes then, could have been a solution, but I doubt.
However on top of it if you go into war, then you are wrong somewhere. If the computation is to win the war in 30 days in a country where just 7% of the people expect you to come in, you are just dreaming.
