From headlines hitting the web it's easy to think the Obama divorce story is a rumor circulating about the imminent collapse of the President's marriage.
Turns out, it's just a rehash of a whispering campaign that may have happened 12 years ago. Is that fair?
The stories are springing up from a new, unauthorized bio of the President recounting gossip buzzing around the run for a seat in the Chicago House Of Representatives back in 2000.
It seems the future First Lady wasn't thrilled about going broke and tried to persuade her husband to give up politics. Even going so far as to draw up legal papers.
This, and other trumped-up "dirt" from the President's past, appears in Edward Klein's The Amateur: Barack Obama In The Whitehouse, which hits bookshelves next Tuesday.
But one would never know that the Obama divorce story rumors are about the First Couple's tension-filled past. What married couple hasn't had some rocky roads along the way?
It's not even clear there's any truth to the story. Only that it's unprovable. Mrs. Obama has denied the story.
Pumping up some old, possibly maliciously jealous, rumors from the President's past doesn't help to make Klein's central point: that the President isn't up to the job.
Maybe he should really be focusing on what Barack Obama is doing to shape the future.
Now there's a story.

I'd rather we stuck to the issues too. Like, why has the State of Hawaii not yet answered the Arizona Secretary of State's question: "Do you have a certified copy of Barack Obama's birth certificate on file?" Just a yes or no would do it. Why would this take longer than eight weeks???
I for one hope we can get someone elected into office that will be able to make a positive difference for our country in the future.
