Obama Official Rick Bookstaber cited Karl Marx when discussing the "...justifiable, and indeed ultimately inevitable" need for class warfare, even though he said he "wasn't picking sides." Bookstaber serves on the Financial Stability Oversight Council, the federal body established under the Dodd-Frank Act for the vague purpose to "ensure the stability of our nation's financial system." After this comment, he extensively quoted Marx, as reported by the Washington Free Beacon.
Bookstaber is not alone in his admiration for socialism/communism. Many in the government have clear ties to these ideologies. What is particularly astounding is that Bookstaber would be so open in his obvious respect for Karl Marx.
Van Jones, President Obama's "Green Jobs Czar," was forced to resign when it was exposed that he is a self-described communist and 9/11 truther. President Obama's "Forward" slogan is seen as a nod to socialism and communism, as the "campaign slogan, 'Forward' [is] a word with a long and rich association with European Marxism." Interestingly and not surprisingly, Wikipedia scrubbed the page making the connection to the slogan and Marxism.
White House communications director Anita Dunn has professed her love for the philosophy of Communist murderer Mao Tse-tung. Maxine Waters has made it clear that she wants to "socialize" oil companies.
Last month, U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Florida, spoke at a town hall and was asked by a constituent about how many Marxists were in the Democratic Party. West responded by saying, "I believe there's about 78 to 81 members of the Democratic Party that are members of the Communist Party." He was referring to the Congressional Progressive Caucus, which indeed has many members with clear associations to socialists and communists. In fact, it was "founded in 1991 by Bernie Sanders-the openly socialist then Congressman from Vermont, Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and the radical Washington DC based 'think tank' Institute for Policy Studies (IPS)."
For example, In August 2006, the Communist Party USA welcomed Keith Maurice Ellisons', co-chair of the CPC, probable election to Congress. At one point, Ellison met with leftist activists across the USA raided by the FBI (they were looking for links to foreign terrorist organizations) and reached out to other CPC members on their behalf.
The other co-chair, Raul M.Grijalva, former community organizer (as described by the Democratic Socialists of America member Peter Dreier), has written for and has been featured in several communist papers. For example, he wrote an anti-NAFTA piece in the Communist Party's "People's Weekly World." He was a member of MEChA, the infamous Chicano separatist group known for its love of Cuba and its Marxist values.
Rick Bookstaber has plenty of company in the Democratic party. Regardless of the many connections to socialists and communists, all too often people who make the connections are marginalized, like Allen West, who has been called every name in the book. It is about time that Americans make the connections themselves and vote accordingly.
