It's not surprising that Republican Congressman Duncan Hunter supports someone like Sgt. Gary Stein who openly opposes the President of the United States. It's not surprising, because the anti-Obama Republicans tend to stick together and regularly display disrespectful behavior towards the President. In addition, Duncan is also a former Marine.
Duncan D. Hunter (Junior) is the son of retired Rep. Duncan L. Hunter. Junior joined the Marines after 9/11. They come from a long line of military service; Junior's grandfather served in WWII, his father in Vietnam. Junior has his own son, also named Duncan Hunter.
In case you don't remember Sgt. Gary Stein, he's the guy that created a Facebook page called Armed Services Tea Party. On that page, Stein refers to President Obama as a "domestic enemy" and suggests that Leon Panetta is treasonous. Clearly, Stein should be looking in the mirror because he is the one whose actions resemble treasonous acts.
It is a well-known fact that soldiers cannot be political when they are serving in the U.S. armed forces or in uniform. They also cannot use "contemptuous words against leaders." Stein is guilty of both.
Yet, Duncan insists that the comments were private conversations among friends. The Facebook group, and its name, make it more than a friendly conversation among Obama haters. Thankfully, the U.S. Marines investigated Stein's actions and are pursuing administrative action.
Congressman Hunter is clearly an Obama hater, too. He stated on December 14, 2011 that the President refused to acknowledge victory in Iraq and pointed out his opposition to the war in the first place. That makes Obama an intelligent guy, because there were no weapons of mass destruction and therefore, no just cause for war.
On January 18, 2012, he went so far as to send a letter to the "treasonous" Leon Panetta asking him to go light on the Marines that pissed on dead Taliban fighters!
Aren't the Marines supposed to be honorable? Where is the honor in pissing on a dead enemy or calling your superiors names and saying you will refuse to follow your commander-in-chief?
There are three candidates running against Hunter: David Secor (Democrat), Terri Linnell (TeaPublican), and Connie Frankowiak (Democrat).
