Sarah Palin and other Republicans attacked President Obama's annual holiday card, saying that it didn't emphasize Christmas enough, and that it put too much focus on the family's dog rather than "family, faith and freedom."
Republicans took issue with the design of the card, which had no tree, and used the dreaded H-word: "holidays." The text on the card says, "From our family to yours, may your holidays shine with the light of the season." Americans across the country have heard the rhetoric that Christianity is under attack in this country, so this must prove it. Obviously Obama is just perpetuating the anti-Christian sentiments with this cheerful holiday... Christmas card, rather.
The battle against Christianity in America is a war that only remains relevant by the commendably persistent efforts of Christians, primarily in the right wing media, to convince everyone else that it actually exists. With a lack of actual evidence to support these claims, things occasionally need to be made up to support them, but only when it fits partisan efforts. Considering the long list of un-Christmast-y cards that have been sent out from previous administrations (Bush and Reagan included), it's a wonder the design choices of Christmas cards hasn't been in the spotlight more often.
In a country where Obama is a socialist Marxist un-Christian anti-American non-citizen, it's only fitting that his choice of Christmas card designs would come under attack. However, this effort to create something out of nothing probably won't get very far. With tax increases looming, the controversial NDAA provision being signed, SOPA threatening to ruin the internet and an economy to fix, Americans have more important things to worry about than a dog in front of a fireplace.

They know they were wrong. They'll come around, but let's not forget how they held this thing up. Their grandstanding affects the market, something their big donors ought to keep in mind when teavangelicals come around asking for campaign donations.
I'm sure Sarah would have preferred a card with HER standing next to a church on the front of it.
No matter what Obama does, the republicans/teapartiers are going to find fault with it. Remember the dubba's Christmas video with his dog in it?
A dog staring into the flames perhaps doggy-dreaming of the fires of hell isn't too bad a choice.
I wrote this not as an affront to religion but to people who take things way too seriously. :P Topics like these are why I don't typically discuss what beliefs I hold lest I be blamed for bias.
Merry Christmas!
To harmonize the different public interests the government should get out of the public school business and pay students to attend private schools of their choice with the government role simply being to assure quality control for all students.
Only students of the poor and middle class should receive subsidized public education, only the poor should receive free public medical services, and only the rich should be taxed at 60% including capital gains.
First of all I think the card is very tastefully done, and I do like it. I don't want to know what's on the inside, but the outside just because its a fireplace/mantle decorated with a dog sleeping in front of it, doesn't speak volumes about Obama's faith, or lack of faith.
I could think of a lot worse things he could have done......
And I think its petty to be arguing over a card.
Right now I think the economy is of more concern than this card.

Because if they really stopped to think then they would realize that not every card has a tree, or Angel or reference to God in it.
They're not big on appearances, even less concerned with the message they're transmitting.

Some day Christmas or Holiday cards may be conformed by Corporate decree to an acceptable modality that passes Federal Card control standards.
Merry Christmas!
I think the Prez's holiday card is very inclusive.
Happy Hannukah! (Or whatever else you celebrate- it's all good! :) )
They have zilch to do with Christianity and everything to do with evergreens being a symbol of like in pagan culture in wintery countries
Using Christianity to promote hate/political agenda is the sickest thing possible.
As much as these yahoos criticize Islam, they practice what angers them.
Very sick and pathetic.
