Herman Cain is currently blasting the darned "liberal media" for what he's calling character assassination, but doesn't it just seem like he's done a good job of assassinating his own character? He's currently reasserting his future, so maybe he should just hang it up, go home and have a pizza party in remembrance of his (almost) political career.
Herman Cain addressed a crowd in Ohio earlier, and spoke of the recent allegations that he's had a 13-year affair outside of his marriage.
"They have been trying to do a character assassination on me. They are attacking my character, my reputation and my name in order to try and bring me down."
He also shared the sentiment that he doesn't believe Americans will let him be taken down. Well, he apparently has some delusions of grandeur since history has prominently shown that Americans (in general) do not want an adulterous or morally corrupt president. Remember Bill Clinton? The guy was a great leader, but his lascivious personal life came to light and public opinion of him crashed. He was impeached.
Voting for Herman Cain would be like voting for the skeezy flasher on a subway
Picture this: You're sitting on a crowded subway and a man sits beside you. After some friendly conversation, the man forces his hand up your skirt to cop-a-feel. Is that offensive? Would you want that person to be the next leader of the free world? You see, these are the kinds of things that Herman Cain has been accused of by more than a few women now, and those accusations came a bit before this alleged mistress of him stepped forward.
Look, one or two rumors about someone is fine and dandy and easy to ignore, but when Herman Cain is accused of dipping his wick in more jars than Slick Willy Clinton himself, there's a problem.
In fact, he just admitted that he still hasn't even talked to his wife about these accusations. Well, isn't that kind of a clue into the lack of relationship they must have? You would figure a husband and wife would have discussed such serious accusations as a 13-year affair. You know, a lack of communication and intimacy often leads people to seek these things outside of the relationship. Maybe Herman Cain did have a 13-year fling, if his current communication distance with his wife is indicative of anything.

But apparently for a lot of people, it's a big deal if a candidate or politician is "unfaithful" to their spouse. And I think it's probably even more of a big deal for the Republicans, given their attempt to hold some sort of political monopoly on "family values."
Remember, this is the guy who said "the manly man is not afraid of abundance." I guess maybe he wasn't just talking about pizza toppings.
In any case, one thing is for sure and that's the fact that Cain's numbers are continuing to tank. The thing is, Newt's numbers are climbing, and his adulterous behavior is well-known.
I disagree. Its not like the POTUS is going to start having an affair with Spain.
Also, as far as it being a matter of trust, what does that mean with regard to instances where the wife knows? Does being in an "open marriage" disqualify a person from public office?
And if these sorts of things apply to serving in public office, what about in the private sphere? Should committing adultery be considered a valid reason for terminating an employee, based on the notion that if they can't be faithful to their spouse, they can't be expected to be loyal to their employer, either?
I think a lot of it has to do with a lot of Americans' attitudes towards sex, marriage, marital fidelity, etc. but I think it also has to do with a pretty narrow view of the American Presidency. 44 Presidents, all male, and only one (Reagan) has been divorced, and only two (Buchanan and Cleveland) have been bachelors (and only one of those (JB) remained so through his entire term in office).
To quote Herman Cain "Blame Yourself".
Herman Cain.
As far as I'm concerned, the sad thing is that it should've been over when he announced that he wouldn't appoint any Muslims to government positions. Or when he repeatedly showed his ignorance on any number of important policy issues. But no, those kinds of things apparently made him even more popular with some Republicans.
Having an affair, on the other hand, can be a serious turn-off for Republicans. Back during the last Presidential race, one poll showed that 62% of Republicans would be less likely to vote for a candidate who'd had an extra-marital affair in the past, compared to 25% of Democrats and 36% of Independents.
That's the reality of politics in America, and Cain and his campaign team should've been aware of it, and had a better plan for dealing with it.
I'm wondering if that new Ron Paul attack ad against Newt is going to impact his numbers. It makes Newt supporters who go after Mitt with "He's a Flip-Flopper" and "He's not a REAL Conservative" look like serious hypocrites. I guess the big question is will anybody but hardcore Paul supporters care about the ad, since most Republican voters seem to have been doing a good job of ignoring the guy so far.
However, if he continues to run for office, he is going to be dogged by the media about it, as well as an attack on his Christian faith.
I wasn't for him as a candidate, and one thing that turned me off to him, was 'God told me to run', any person seeking candidacy in an election, has to remember their life becomes an open book, unless you have the means, and the clout to lock your records away from prying eyes.
Exactly Mooch.
The comments are hysterical. Blind worship and hypocracy at its finest.
