A new concealed carry initiative may be on the ballot for the March 2012 election in Pike County, Illinois. Dan Mefford, a Pittsfield, Illinois, chiropractor has started an effort to include a "constitutional carry" referendum which would make concealed carry a constitutionally recognized right in the county. This could lead to the state being forced to recognize this right as well, and to expand it to include the rest of Illinois.
If successful, this could take the decision out of the hands of Liberal Democratic politicians from Chicago, who mostly oppose the idea, and end the imposition of outdated and tyrannical liberal ideals on the rest of the citizenry.
Illinois is now the only state in the union that refuses to recognize a citizen's right to carry a weapon for self-defense. It is the only state that does not have a concealed carry law.
But Mefford's effort could turn the tide in the land of Lincoln. "What we're doing is making a statement...we want to put it in front of the people and let people speak," Medford stated. "The time has come to stand up and be counted instead of imploring and begging and pleading with our Chicago Machine Rulers to pass a concealed carry law..."
The idea that a small number of tyrannical liberals can impose their outdated and illogical ideology on the rest of the state is not only an embarrassment, but is a slap in the face to the Founding Fathers and their ideals of freedom. Did the Americans not rebel against Great Britain because the British were imposing their will on the American colonies?
And is that not what a group of liberal politicians from Chicago seems to be doing to the people of the state of Illinois now, imposing their view of gun-control on the rest of the state?
The time has come for Illinois to stop living with a 1960s hippie-inspired socialist ideology which has both financially and morally bankrupted the state, and enter the 21st century. It is time to end the tyranny of the Liberal Democrats in Illinois and free the people from their dictates.
It is time for Illinois to have a concealed carry law.
