President Obama attempted to head off criticism of the Department of Justice's botched "Operation Gunrunner" program by imposing tighter restrictions on gun sales in four border states. It certainly seems as though law-abiding American citizens who live in states that border Mexico will have to pay the price for the Administration's incompetence.
"Operation Gunrunner" was an overall concerted effort on the part of the U.S. Department of Justice to track and interdict illegal shipments of weapons to Mexico. Part of the program, called "fast and furious," allowed hundreds of illegal weapons to flow across the border into Mexico.
Critics claim that at least one U.S. Border Patrol Agent was murdered as a result of those specific weapons. While many have brought pressure on the administration to give up details on the program, the Obama administration, and more specifically Eric Holder's Department of Justice, have been less than forthcoming with information.
Now the Department of Justice, under Eric Holder, has made a unilateral decision to demand the names of purchasers of multiple guns in states that border Mexico. Eric Holder is once again demonstrating his ignorance and incompetence. Just as he did in the woefully misguided and idiotic "Operation Gunrunner," Holder seems to once again be acting out of desperation, not intelligence and rational thought.
Instead of punishing gun stores and gun owners for his mistakes, Eric Holder should be investigating why hundreds of illegal guns were allowed to cross into Mexico, and why no one in the entire Department of Justice thought this might be a bad idea.
Has the Obama Administration been so infiltrated with liberal ideology that one bad idea is simply compounded by another? And why does every solution the administration comes with to solve a problem involve either more government spending, or giving up more and more individual rights?
These new impositions on the constitutional right to keep and bear arms are only the latest example of how the controlling ideology of liberalism has pervaded American government. It seems that every time the liberals see problems with guns, the solution is always to make the law-abiding citizens pay the price. In this case, because the Obama Administration made a terrible, and possibly deadly mistake, their solution is to impose more restrictions on gun sales.
Well, the NRA will not stand quietly and do nothing as the administration's incompetence is covered up with constitutionally questionable regulations. The NRA has vowed to sue the ATF as soon as it begins officially requesting the information.
Possible presidential candidate, Texas Governor Rick Perry, has also stated his opposition to the new regulations, so this will no doubt be an issue in the Republican presidential primaries.
With these new intrusions on the private ownership of guns, the Obama administration has again demonstrated its intention to restrict guns in America. And with its usual arrogance, it is now using its own mistakes to further the liberal agenda.

All private gun owners have to do is buy their guns one or two at a time. How many guns does one person need? The second amendment does not guarantee the right to provide the firepower of an army to drug cartels.
"It was one in a series of changes ATF agents have asked for to increase their ability to corral the illegal gun trade."
So, to deflect attention and not talk about the real details of the story, lets introduce more legislation.
