Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) is in the news again and itÂ’s not for her work in Congress. This time she is accusing the president of hiding money in the healthcare bill that secretly spends $105 billion without anyone knowing about it until she discovered it recently. This is not BachmannÂ’s first foray into the fantastical. She accused members of Congress of being anti-American; she said the president has a gangster government. She also recently said that everyone was accepted into the United States with open arms and everyone was equal.
Recently Michelle Bachmann appeared on “Meet the Press” and revealed her findings to David Gregory. In her appearance she said, “It is shocking the revelations of all the money that's been spent... There is a Congressional Research Service report that just was issued in February, and we discovered that secretly, unbeknownst to members of Congress, over $105 billion was hidden in the Obamacare legislation to fund the implementation of Obamacare. This is something that wasn't known.”
There are a couple of problems with BachmannÂ’s claim. The first problem is her accusation means no one in Congress, Democrat or Republican, actually read the bill, including her. This does not put her and her colleagues in a good light. Since it is legislation, every member of Congress has access to it and can read it whenever they want.
The second problem with her claim is the information is in fact included in the bill. Steve Ellis of Taxpayers for Common Sense said, “I’m not saying that everybody knew everything that was in the health care bill, because it’s almost impossible to do that. But it was documented that the money was in there... Shame on them if they didn’t know that.” He went on to say the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) specified all spending in the bill.
There are two conclusions to draw from Michelle BachmannÂ’s claims: she did not read the bill and is trying to provide cover for herself or she is being disingenuous. Either conclusion does not speak highly of the two-term Congresswoman. Somehow House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) saw fit to appoint her to the House Intelligence Committee.

And now, SHE IS READING IT AND FINDING OUT IT STINKS!
It's the people that voted it are the ones who look bad.
Liberal spin is sickening.
2700 pageg with 10,000 of page references to law changes.
Bachmann said that "secretly, unbeknownst to members of Congress, over $105 billion was hidden in the Obamacare legislation."
And liberals spin that to be a lie!!????!!
The liberal spin is disingenuous blatant deception at best. To believe their spin, puts you in the category of a PT Barnum sucker who wold buy the Brookline Bridge. That is what the liberals think of your intelligence.
First of all, Ms. Pelosi is a member of the House of Representatives where Bills of law normally originate as proposals. She is not a member of the House of Senate where Bills of law are voted upon for implementation into law pending the signature of the President.
Any statement Ms. Pelosi made, was in reference to the House of Representatives taking a vote to forward the Bill onto Senate for final approval and can not be viewed as referring to a final vote to enact a Bill into law, because Bills can not be enacted into law by the Congress, but only by the Senate.
You can also refer to a more indepth explination of Ms. Pelosi's statement which is written below to Charles M.
I pray she makes a serious run for the Republiclown nomination.
Boehner appointed her to the Intelligence Committee because she can't talk about anything she learns there.
There is a third (see Ali's first comment, above)
It's called, "Hiding A Fellow Idiot In Plain Sight", smart move Beohner, no one would think to look for an idiot in the Intelligence Committee Meeting Room.
So is it any surprise that there are things in it and done for it that many don't know about? I'm not shocked that she didn't know about this money. But I guess you knew all about it . Right?
Further, all members of the House were issued true copies of the completed bill 3 1/2 days in advance of the vote being taken by the House members.
Still further, after the bill passed in the House it was forwarded to the Senate for final debate. The Senate debated the House bill for 3 more months, while taking out several key parts of the bill the House had passed. Afterwhich the final vote by the Senate was taken and the then the completed bill received it's final vote in the Senate. The true bill was then forwarded to the White House where the President placed his signature on the bill, signing it into law.
Now in all that time, if Congresswoman Bachmann did not find fault with the bill, why pretend that she cares now ? Why is she claiming to be shocked to have belatedly found out that the bill included the funds required to pay for the implementation of the bill.
Let's face the real issue/facts, this is nothing but loudmouth grandstanding for the Tea Party Constituents from whom Ms. Bachmann seeks support.
It's obvious that you haven't done any research on this at all.
Did or did not Pelosi say that? Hmmm?

Scott she must have found fault with the bill. She voted against it.
1) I agree that Ms. Bachmann found fault with the House completed bill and voted against it. However, the Bill became law over a year ago and as such, the time for challenging the contents of the Bill has long passed and Ms. Bachmann is well aware of that.
2) Ms. Pelosi in urging the House members to pass the Bill and send it on to the Senate, did state that the Bill needed to be passed in order that everyone one would know what was in it. But, when making the statment, she was referring to once the Bill was forwarded from the House to the Senate and the Senate members had made their changes to the Bill, then, and only then, would the true contents of the completed Bill would be known. She was not referring to the contents/context of the Bill which the House had compiled, but to what the end result would be once the Senate finished their part of the legislating process in their Congressional House Committees at which time the final contents of the Bill would then be known.
3) The children under the age of 26, actually are covered within the final Bill which was signed into law. However, as with all parts of the Bill, individual mandates come into effect and implementation at different times, between the time the Bill was signed into law and ending with full implementation by the year 2014.
4) Michele Bachmann, has constantly over the past 3 years, stood on a soap box and shouted pure B/S designed to appeal to the right wing conservatives of the voting population. Voters who are seeking a prominent leader who shares their extremist ideology. Ms. Bachmann wants to be that leader, therefore, having to compete for that leadership post with the likes of Jim DeMint and Newt Gingrich, she has decided on an agenda to outshine, outshout, out decry and out extreme, the other two contenders for that position in the conservative political arena.
I hope this clears up any misconseptions as to how the Health Care Bill came into existance and answers the questions which Ms. Bachmann has been misleadingly sounding off about.
Further, I also hope that you can now see why, most people, even many Republicans see Michele Bachmann as a person out for her own personal gains by portraying herself to be the defender of the people and the Constitution, when in actuality, she is just seeking personal recognition as being a staunch conservative, in hopes of gaining future campaign support and limelight stardom.
