I like Washington Week with Gwen Ifil & Bill Moyers. They have guests that represent BOTH sides of issues. Contrary to Faux Noise, they truly are "Fair & Balanced."

Being fair and balanced for real is so honest ... and, so, I guess, liberal ....

PBS? What a horrible channel! In 40 years of Sesame Street each generation that's watched it has had more knowledge going into kindergarten then their parents did. What an abomination.

PBS funded the "Pursuit of Excellence" series ... sounds really subversive to me. (That was the series about ferrets I was in, but they also did synchronized swimming, and something about horses.)

I guess they who dislike PBS are not finding any controversy to apply to my fav: Charlie Rose an interview show distributed nationally by PBS since 1993! They just flush the entire PBS org as invalid because PBS is NOT Faux Muse.

NPR/PBS insist they are moderate/centerist. It is so, and I am not as fond of them as I once was. They are completely dependent on corporate donations now and cannot be "liberal" and have not been liberal since the late 1980s.

Pay attention, most of their "experts" on economics and politics are from conservative think tanks, now and then a centerist.
a few times a year they might have a real live liberal on for a discussion.

I love Jesus Christ. I love PBS. And I simply adore PJS! So--what does that make me? I've been asked not to come back to several churches after not agreeing with the Pastor, and saying what God told me to say! I guess I'm not good enough to be a conservative, and not radical enough to be a liberal...I just don't know! :)

Ruthe, I now consider myself to be in good company...as I have been asked to leave several churches, based on questions I asked the pastors, such as, why doesn't this church represent the community it serves? My neighbors are not all whitebread, why is this church all so pale complexioned? And, why can we buy the church a new roof, when the people of the congregation are on reduced priced lunches, and boxed mac & cheese dinners?
How come we can't ask questions? I thought it said somewhere in TimmyII that we should question our faith?
I went from leading the Youth group to being asked to "pipe down" in the leader's meetings.
Guess I wasn't a good fit for the methodists.
Whodathunkit? After all, I sing, and play about 9 instruments?
I guess music isn't all that important, after all. (((grins~~happier now for being, essentially, "kicked out"!)))

It's good to be in your company, as well!! :) I was a youth minister at the church, and always encouraged the young people to reach for their dreams. I wanted to develop programs to help the community, such as: senior programs, a food pantry and a computer classes...and was shot down for every idea. The "Board" didn't agree, and I was having way too much influence on the kids. But the real dig was that when God says something, and you are living your life accordingly, then you should be trusted. I had a problem with the fact that it seemed that the Pastor and Board was in charge instead of God.

I believe that Jesus came for everyone--the whole world. So how can we say that we are reaching out to "everyone", when everyone in the church looks like "us", sounds like "us". That doesn't sound like everyone to me.

I would trust getting my news from Seseme Street, Wishbone or the kids at the Electric Co before I would trust FOX news!!!!!

With conservatives the media is liberal except for Fox news and are not to be trusted.

Now wouldn't a normal person immediately wonder why they were being told to never trust any news source but FAUX?

I love PBS and I love to be called a liberal.

A few years ago, the University of Maryland polled viewers of various networks about seven mistaken conclusions, about the Iraq war, widely held by the public in spite of the absence of any evidence. For all seven questions, viewers of FOX News ranked highest in belief in wrong conclusions. 67% believed a clear link had been established between Saddam and al-Qaeda, in spite of absolutely no evidence to support such a conclusion, and after the invasion, 33% of Fox Viewers got it wrong that WMD were actually found in Iraq. While Fox News viewers had the highest statistics of wrong conclusions for all seven questions, viewers of public media (PBS, NPR) had the lowest numbers of wrong conclusions for all seven questions.

Bush - The Bush Tax Cuts - Were supposed to have been a matter of giving back the budget surplus, but when they were passed, we were already in deficit. To this day, not one single Bush economic advisor has been able to say that the Bush tax cuts even paid for themselves, let alone boosted the economy.

No antenna or satellite though, I love being free of the television.
