Happy News: Obama Makes Good On One Campaign Promise - First Puppy Makes Big Splash!

Who let the dog out?
Thats the Washington mystery du jour.
Obama keeps promise to his kids made during campaign to get them a dog.

 

The identity of the first puppy -- the one that the Washington press corps has been yelping about for months, the one President Obama has seemed to delight in dropping hints about -- leaked out yesterday. This despite White House efforts to delay the news until the big debut planned for Tuesday afternoon.

 

 



The little guy is a 6-month-old Portuguese water dog given to the Obama girls as a gift by that Portuguese water dog-lovin' senator himself, Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts. The girls named it Bo -- and let it be noted that you learned that here first.

Portuguese water dog given to them by water hating Teddy Kennedy. If he didn't hate water so much maybe he would have tried to save Mary Jo from drowning all those years ago instead of going home and leaving her there.

I read the article earlier. I thik Bo is adorable.
Bo is cute. Most puppies are adorable, and kittens too, which is one of the reasons we scoop them up and take them home.

Now if philanderer Ted had had one of these Portuguese Water Dogs along at the time, I bet it would have dove in the river and saved poor Mary Jo! That is what these dogs were originally bred for.

It makes a nice photo opportunity. But I don't see the girls loving the dog much in that shot.

He looks very well behaved. The dog, that is.

Didn't he say they were going to get a shelter dog? I wonder if they'll dump the dog like the Clinton's did with their pets when they're no longer needed for P.R. work?

No, mogy, they didn't say they were going to get a shelter dog. They said they were going to consider one, but due to Sasha's allergies they had to get a dog that is hypoallergenic.
