Contrary to published reports, I did not win the Mayor of Saugerties title. I am still the lowly bookseller and publisher who is a native of Saugerties, not an elected official. See the Official results here:

Ina - yeah it was a quiet campaign while I was in Rio photographing one-of-a-kind hand made SHOES!
Drink up CC - it was only an election - not a trial! I didn't even have to fall on my sword!
Maybe next time, now that you've got name recognition. It was a close election, after all. I bet you'd be a good mayor.
Hey Dorine - I know what you mean. How difficult could it be to count to 600?My poster was all over town because I had the name recognition, but many didn't know the face that went with it. The incumbents called everyone, held rallies, spoke to the senior citizen groups - were organized! And nervous because I did so well while I lay on the beach in Rio. I may run again in two years - we'll see.
Darndest thing is, I ran as a fiscal conservative, a businessman who would (as Andrew Coumo proposes) work to consolidate the Village out of existence. Almost won! (and that's tough to do when many of the 160 employees thought it might cost them their jobs!)
I'll be in your area this Summer researching food & wine articles for the Adirondacks. I'll have to check out Cossayuna Lake. Any outstanding restaurants in the neighborhood?
