Clinton: Enhanced Senate Role vs Secretary of State

It looks like Hillary Clinton will be offered the position of Secretary of State shortly after Thanksgiving. The question at hand is whether she will accept it or not. Democratic officials have offered Clinton an enhanced role in the Senate which would allow her to act with a level of autonomy not permitted in a cabinet role. This obviously appeals to Clinton as she would be able to follow her own agenda rather than function as Obama's top diplomat.

The New York Times claimed that "the discussions about an enhanced position for Mrs. Clinton are factoring into her deliberations over joining the cabinet, the officials said. Mrs. Clinton, the junior senator from New York, is wrestling with whether to abandon her independence to become the nation's top diplomat or remain in a chamber where lack of seniority limits her influence."

Do you think Clinton would function better as a diplomat or in a leadership senate role? What do you think she will choose?

She will do what is best for her, and why not really. Reid is probably worried about whom might take her seat in the Senate? Obama would probably like her to be working for him should things not get better with the country, and he wants to run for re-election without worrying about her? I dunno'... beats me.

She will act in her own best interest as always. My guess is she's leaning towards Secretary of State since she and Bill have turned over various financial documents about funding of the Clinton library and Bill's sources of income to the Obama transition team.
