Silly me - I thought it was about reading.
I have a few questions...(don't I always?).
a) Some of the hot topics have 'entertainment' in parenthesis next to the item. Does this indicate the group that content should be published to, or the tag that should be applied to the content? (as there is no Essential for entertainment)
b) Is it required that members indicate their interest below, or can they just write about the topic and publish?
c) For items that have more than one 'essential' or tag in parenthesis, should members publish to all essentials channels indicated, or should they choose one?
Thanks!
Those are good questions. Here are the answers:
a) Some of the hot topics have 'entertainment' in parenthesis next to the item. Does this indicate the group that content should be published to, or the tag that should be applied to the content? (as there is no Essential for entertainment)
You are right. We don't have an Essential for entertainment, but we do have a Gather run entertainment group at entertainment.gather.com. We will be more clear on that in the future.
b) Is it required that members indicate their interest below, or can they just write about the topic and publish?
If people would like a chance to be featured on the homepage in one of the Essentials, letting us know in the comment thread would give us a heads up to keep an eye out for that article. If they don't want to let us know in the comment thread, they can email us at gathereditorial.
c) For items that have more than one 'essential' or tag in parenthesis, should members publish to all essentials channels indicated, or should they choose one?
We will leave that up to the author of the article. The Essentials we list at the end of each hot topic are suggestions.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Just a note about the first topic on the list: Note that the term quarantine should only be used when referring to people who are suspected of having a disease and are waiting on test results to find out for sure. If, at the end of the quarantine period, it is determined that the person has a communicable disease like non-treatable tuberculosis, then that person is assigned to "isolation."
The television networks have been bantering around "quarantine," "quarantine," so I'm curious to know what the case is here. Does this guy have TB, or was he just suspected of it?
From what I have heard, he was suspected of it before he left the country. It then became confirmed while he was overseas. Hence, he fled to the U.S. rather than turn himself over to local health officials.
Please let me know if you'd like me to do this article, and I'll do it either tomorrow (Friday, June 1) or over the weekend. Thank you in advance for your quick response!
You also left out the heating up controversy about GWB's efforts to pre-empt and derail the climate change topic at the G-8 summit. For a global warming activist like myself, that is a glaring omission, and I suggest anyone interested in that topic may enjoy my article entitled Bush Struggles to Stay Ahead of the Global Warming "Surge".
