In a move that surprised absolutely no one, President Bush last night vetoed a bill that would have provided emergency funding to U.S. troops in Iraq, but would have also set a time limit on troop withdrawal.
The veto, only the second in his presidency, marks an historic showdown between the President and Congress over whether the unpopular and costly war should end or escalate.
Now, it’s time to get down to the nitty gritty of finding a compromise that everyone can live with.
