This actually makes a lot of sense. In many ways, there are actually more political messages to be taken from this than most people realize. The system of coupon comrade, in which socialism is almost made a reality, is one poignant marker of this.

Pedro may well have a point, apart from the hard liners, the ordinary folks in the UK are lying back and enjoying the spectacle. There's a newly emerging group on Gather which aims to put a smile back on people's faces - pop over to LolCats and put yer feet up :-)

It would appear to me that in the US people are much more politically charged than here in the UK. For instance it is a General Election in two weeks time and except from a few posters there has hardly been any canvassing or publicity to encourage votes for any of the parties.
